Meet Our Client
The farmhouse was our biggest project of 2017 which is why this will be a two-part reveal! Designing a 6,000 square foot farmhouse is no small feat and Whitney took this project and did what she does best!
Heather and Whit had been working together on Heather’s home that she lived in prior to the farmhouse when Whitney received a call out of nowhere saying, “Stop everything, we sold our house.” She was sad at first because she had loved everything they had been doing together but as soon as she went out to the new farmhouse they had purchased, Whit couldn’t contain her excitement.
The Design Process
Lead Designer: Whitney
Heather came to us with the vision to brighten up the existing dark rooms within the farmhouse and bring it back to life!
We had purchased a rug for the master bedroom at her old house that we both loved but unfortunately it didn’t work in the new master. So, I decided to repurpose it as a rug under their massive custom farm table in her dining area. The rug is a beautiful, hand stitched indigo and served as the inspiration for the rest of the room. I kept all of the furniture neutral (she had a lot of existing pieces that we used) and brought in the deep indigo tones with amazing rugs and vintage textiles.
We brought the outside in by using photos of farm land and cool old barns along with 2 original prints of Heather’s Long Horn’s shot by our talented in-house photographer Nicole. Whit also brought in grasscloth wallpaper to soften things up and add texture. She then layered in a large amount of house plants to give life to such a grand room.
The biggest challenge in this space was the bar in the corner of the room that wasn’t functional but had major potential. Enter Leyla with her awesome and functional design to turn the old dark bar into something bright, beautiful and most importantly something that is user friendly. Check out the cool Stikwood detail on the face of the bar, it really put this design over the top.
To finish off the space, we added in large scale lighting and voila this room is the perfect space for entertaining and relaxing with the family.
Whitney’s favorite element in the home: “I love the dining chairs and the lighting in the living room.”
