Meet The Client

We started working with the Cooper family several years back when they came to Leyla to design their custom home! So Leyla designed this beautiful space from the ground up alongside Dedrick Construction. To finish it off, Whitney came in this year to furnish and complete the space.

The Design Process

Mary had a big, long family room that she was confused on how to furnish to ensure the space was used to the best of its’ ability. So we essentially created two living rooms back to back; her sofa and four chairs facing the TV and then two large swivel chairs and a coffee table facing the kitchen.

They were a little nervous at first, thinking that it might be too much furniture making the room feel crowded but thankfully they trusted me in the end and are super happy with the results of the room. They love to entertain so the room functions so well for them and how they use their house.

Whitney wanted to be true to their neutral modern aesthetic but also warm up the space with layered rugs and vintage textiles. She added a lot of natural elements, incorporated some of the items collected from their travels, vintage books and layered art in their built ins to give a lived in feel.

In the dining room Whitney did a beautiful linen, custom drapery treatment to soften the room and added a large round mirror. Adding plant life throughout the home added a much needed live element and we’re happy to report that over three months later, all of the plants are still going strong and thriving :).

In their master Whitney added a comfortable chaise for reading and dark woven shades to the windows. Again, she softened the room with linen drapes and kept the bedding simple but interesting with texture.

Whitney: “This project was fun and challenging and I’m so happy with the results. And I know our clients are loving their new space.”
